A fan of the classics? If yes then we’ve got some news for you. Remember the old Nokia 3310? The mobile phone that was more of a protective weapon than a cellphone? Well at the MWC 2017, Nokia made a surprising announcement of its successor, the Nokia 3310 2017 that’s expected to hit the shelves by mid-March 2017 with a price-tag of 4500 rupees.
Refined retro design
The new 3310 comes in with a lot in common with its predecessor of some 17 years ago. Featuring an equally sturdy build albeit with improved build materials, the thick 3310 2017 is equally capable of being your last line of defense in times of need as it is for its other computing functionalities. The 12.8mm thick cell phone is all hard-plastic and just like its older sibling, it simply won’t smash into pieces even if it’s projected against a wall with tremendous speed.
Color screen anyone?
Improving upon the older 3310, the 3310 2017 comes in with a 2.4 inches TFT screen. No touch-input here so you’ll have to get used to using the keypad for everything once again. Packed with 167ppi pixel density, this baby supports a 240p resolution that’s fine for its tiny little display.
After 17 years, the 3310’s finally got a camera!
That’s right; the new 3310 comes in with a 2 megapixel snapper and an LED flash. This is surprising news for us as we expected the company to only recreate the 3310 with normal additions. But here we are; the 3310 2017’s capable of capturing and recording whatever you want, wherever you want.
Other notable mentions
While there are no processors or RAM to talk about, the 3310 2017 features 16MB internal storage with an external microSD card slot capable of supporting up-to 32GB of storage. Bluetooth is a welcome addition to its small bag of features while a 1200 mAh removable battery takes you back in time when removing a worn-out battery and replacing it with a new one was as simple as removable a cellphone’s back panel.
Other than that, the tremendous amount of battery life is guaranteed as the cellphone will go days with a single full charge while an audio/video player, optional dual-SIM and 4 colorful exteriors bringing an end to the 3310 2017. Lastly, we’d do like to advise you not to plug-in a large SD card into the 3310 as it’ll drastically slow the cellphone down.
